A heavy rain warning has been issued for areas along with West Coast.
A moist northwest flow, with several embedded fronts, will bring rain to the West Coast of the South Island during Friday and Saturday.
"The heaviest falls are likely to be in Fiordland and Westland south of Haast, and in Westland north of the glaciers. Up to 150mm of rain could accumulate in these areas," says a statement from the MetService.
"The first front is forecast to bring heavy rain to Fiordland and southernmost Westland from Friday morning till early Saturday morning.
"A second frontal rainband should affect Westland north of the glaciers from Friday evening till Saturday afternoon."

Heavy rain may cause streams and rivers to rise rapidly. Surface flooding and slips are also possible and driving conditions may be hazardous.
