A former Auckland high school teacher accused of doing indecent acts on boys can now be named.

He is Benjamin Swann, known as Benjy Swann.

Mr Swann, who denies 10 charges relating to seven boys, was given name suppression when he first appeared in the Manukau District Court last September.

He has held a teacher's certificate for 30 years and has taught at other schools, the last of which was Ōtāhuhu College.

According to the Education Council's register, he has voluntarily agreed not to keep teaching.

His trial at the High Court in Auckland is due to be held in April.
