Police are investigating a report of a cat being thrown from a moving car on State Highway 2.

In a Facebook post published yesterday a woman claims to have seen a cat thrown from a Mercedes Dannevirke.

The post also includes a photograph of the alleged vehicle the woman says was doing more than 100 kilometres per hour at the time.

A police spokesman says they have recieved a report of the incident and are following lines of enquiry.

An SPCA spokesperson says they were also investigating the incident after receiving a complaint.
