The Auckland Aces and Central Stags will contest the Elimination Final this Friday at Eden Park to determine who'll meet the Knights in the Burger King Super Smash Grand Final on Sunday.
The Aces took home advantage in the Elimination Final by beating the Central Stags by eight wickets at Eden Park this afternoon - dominant knocks from Daniel Bell-Drummond (74) and Mark Chapman (75 not out) helped the home team chase down the Stags' 174-9 with 17 balls to spare.
There was a chance the Aces could overtake the Knights to take top spot if the Volts could chase down the Knights' 150-9 in 45 balls or less at Bay Oval, but it wasn't to be.
The Volts took regular wickets to restrict the Knights to 150-9 from their twenty overs, with Corey Anderson top scoring with 42. Hamish Rutherford made 49, and Ben Cox 32 not out to help the visitors to a comfortable five wicket win, and help the Volts finish in fourth place.
The Kings and Firebirds were playing for pride at Hagley Oval, where the home team's complete performance gave them a seven wicket win. Cole McConchie (3-28) and Kyle Jamieson (3-22) helping keep the visitors to 132-8 in 20 overs. The Kings chased that total down with three overs to spare, with Chad Bowes top-scoring with 72.
