Fighter aiming for decisive finish in Thailand

Filipina women’s atomweight contender Gina “Conviction” Iniong is not planning on leaving anything to chance when she returns to action in the main card of ONE: CLASH OF LEGENDS on Saturday, 16 February at the Impact Arena in Bangkok, Thailand.

Iniong will be taking on undefeated Malaysian Jihin “Shadowcat” Radzuan in a battle of top contenders both looking to move closer to a world championship.

"They can expect an aggressive and determined Gina Iniong," the Baguio City-based mixed martial artist stated.

After seeing a pair of close decisions not go their way, the Team Lakay standout is looking to avoid the scorecards this time around.

"Anything can happen in a fight. All I can say is I don't want the fight to go to the judges' scorecards,” she said.

The 29-year old former six-time Wushu champion is coming off a three-round unanimous decision loss to former world title challenger Istela Nunes, and is hoping to reverse her fortunes to begin 2019.

“My last fight made me realize that I have so many techniques to improve and develop. I am coming with everything to have my hand raised in Bangkok,” Iniong expressed.

“I am still hoping to get a shot at the ONE Women's Atomweight World Title and fight Angela Lee. One of my dreams is to challenge her because I want to become a World Champion,” she added.

With Team Lakay off to a rough start in 2019, winning just one of their first five assignments, Iniong hopes to break the trend and bring the Baguio City-based team back on the winning track.

"I am working doubly hard in training by pushing myself to the limits,” Iniong explained. "I follow my coaches' advise in every turn. We focused on my weaknesses in training and gave a lot of time on my ground game.”
