The search for a tramper missing in the Tararua Ranges resumed at about 7am.

Darren Myers from Wellington failed to return on 1 June from a planned five-day tramp in the mountain range north of the city.

About 30 searchers have been looking in areas where Mr Myers might have left his planned route.

They are expecting strong, cold winds on the tops today.

Yesterday, a member of the search team was helicoptered to hospital after breaking a bone in his leg.

He is now recovering at home.
