A 21-year-old Christchurch man accused of a fatal hit and run in the city ten days ago was charged with murder when he appeared in the Christchurch District Court today.
Liam Strickland, 21, did not enter any plea and was remanded in custody until his next court appearance on 6 September.
Police arrested the man last night following an investigation into the death of a homeless man in a hit and run in the suburb of New Brighton on 7 August. Dean Amies was killed when he was struck by a van fleeing from the police.
During their investigation police raided more than two dozen properties and arrested 15 people, who face various charges.
